WEDNESDAY, October 30, 2019 - Day 1: Depart US for Thailand

THURSDAY, October 31 - Day 2: Travel - Arrive Bangkok, Thailand 
Arrive in Bangkok, meet the guide and transfer to hotel. Free time to relax.


FRIDAY, November 1 - Day 3: Chiang Mai, Thailand

Flight from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. Relaxing afternoon cruise up the Mae Ping River, a major waterway in northern Thailand. In the evening enjoy the Chiang Mai Night Bazaar, full of bargains, remarkable food and people watching.

SATURDAY, November 2 - Day 4: Chiang Mai

Enjoy a drive up the mountain overlooking Chiang Mai to visit Doi Suthep temple, which once contained relics of the Buddha. We will also stop at Wat Phalad Hidden temple, situated in a very peaceful and beautiful jungle environment.Then we will return to Chiang Mai city to tour Chedi Luang Temple, the big pagoda ruin which is the major temple in the old city. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, and visit the huge day market, Warorot 
Market.

SUNDAY, Nov. 3 - Day 5: Golden Triangle Tour

We will drive north to Chiang Rai; tour the incredible White Temple, a Buddhist temple that was designed by artist, Chalermchai Kositpipat, in 1997. It was heavily damaged by an earthquake in 2014, but is now open again. 

We continue on to the “Golden Triangle” where Thailand, Burma (Myannmar), and Laos come together. We’ll ride a boat on the Mekong River and make a brief stop in Laos, for shopping and to get your passport stamped! 

MONDAY, Nov. 4 - Day 6: Elephant Sanctuary 

Touch, walk with, bathe, feed, and interact with elephants all day! Our day with the elephants will also help support the work of the sanctuary. NOTE: This is a
sanctuary where every creature is treated lovingly and with respect, so we will not be riding the elephants!

Drive north of Chiang Mai to our elephant sanctuary. After arrival, change into provided clothes and have fun with activities which include:

  • Educational Introduction of what to expect, do’s and ‘don’ts,
  • Information, Inspiration about the rescued elephants we will meet.
  • Walk around the grounds to visit the elephants and check their health.
  • Gather food for elephants (cut grass and sugar cane from organic farm area.
  • Feed, interact and walk with the elephants.
  • Mud bath with elephants.


TUESDAY, Nov. 5 - Day 7: Chiang Mai - Siem Reap, Cambodia

Flight from Chiang Mai to Siem Reap. Balance of day is at leisure. In the evening we’ll enjoy the food, sounds, and sights of the night markets in Siem Reap.

WEDNESDAY, Nov. 6 - Day 8: Siem Reap

Embark on a journey through the history of Angkor. First visit is the South Gate with its huge statues depicting the churning of the ocean of milk. See the ancient capital of Angkor Thom built in the late 12th century before we head onwards to Bayon temple which is unique for its 54 towers. Baphuon is like an artificial mountain that recently re-opened after years of restoration. 

Continue to the popular temple of Ta Prohm which is the modern name of the temple at Angkor, built in the late 12th to early 13th centuries. Onward to Preah Khan, “The Sacred Sword”, an extensive monastic complex covering over 56 hectares as a monastery and teaching complex. Finally, enjoy the view from Phnom Bakheng during sunset with an unforgettable view over Angkor Wat.

THURSDAY, Nov. 7 - Day 9: Siem Reap, Cambodia

Proceed to the magnificent Angkor Wat Temple, Angkor park’s most revered temple and the largest religious monument in the world. Inside the temple, the walls are covered with stone carvings and bas-reliefs which are absolutely breathtaking. Your guide will explain the stories from the exquisite details and provide you with ample time to explore the inner and outer grounds of the temple.

In the afternoon, explore two highlight temples, Banteay Samre and Banteay Srei. Banteay Samre built under Suryavarman II and Yasovarman II in the early 12th century is a Hindu temple in the Angkor Wat style. Banteay Srei is one of Angkor’s most beautiful temples. Built largely of red sandstone, this gem of a temple boasts a pink color and some of the most exquisite depictions. 

FRIDAY, Nov. 8 - Day 10: Siem Reap, Cambodia

Today, we set off to Tonle Sap Lake to discover different aspects of the floating village activities from crocodile farming to fishing farms, traditional medicine shops, boat shops, spirit houses, floating schools, and more.

In the afternoon we travel to one of Siem Reap’s beautiful temples for a cultural immersion experience ‘Monk Blessing’. The pagoda is a picturesque image of Buddhist culture. Your guide will provide you with incense and candle sticks to bring to the pagoda where you will participate in a private blessing ceremony performed by local resident monks who reside at the temple. Sat on the floor of the temple, the monks chant blessings for good luck, sprinkling you with holy water – a traditional way which is believed to pass on the good luck of the gods. Before you continue on your journey, you will receive a small keepsake from the monks to remind you of this special moment.

SATURDAY, Nov. 9 - Day 11: Fly from Siem Reap to Bangkok

Flight to Bangkok. Day at leisure. Optional tour of Bangkok.

SUNDAY, Nov. 10 - Fly from Bangkok to the USA
